Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the ongoing Edo State governorship election, Olumide Akpata, has expressed satisfaction with the voting process.

Akpata, who voted at Polling Unit 11, Ward 6, in Oredo LGA at about 10:30am, also expressed hope that the process would remain smooth across the state.

Speaking to journalists after casting his vote, also stated the importance of allowing all eligible voters, especially his supporters, to exercise their franchise.

The governorship election is being closely contested, with Akpata competing against key candidates such as Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
