As the people of Akwa lbom State continue to pour encomiums on Governor Umo Eno over his recent acquisition of three new airbuses for Ibom Air, electorates in the state have appealed to him to extend the same treatment to them for equity sake.
In a random interview conducted across the state with particular reference to Uyo metropolis, the electorates frowned at a situation where the governor only caters for the elites at the expense of the masses that voted him into office.
“It is very sad to observe that our Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has abandoned the masses in favour of the elites. How can our governor acquire three new airbuses in one fell swoop when public transportation across the state is in shambles”, lamented one Mr Enoch Udoh in Uyo.
Another respondent who gave her name simply as Sister Lovina expressed shock that Pastor Umo Eno has not done anything about public transportation since he came on board as governor.
Lovina noted that even a special and busy route such as Government House to Plaza Shuttle buses are left in a terrible state of disrepairs.
“I am surprised that even buses conveying workers under government employ are made to hub into rickety buses coupled with high cost of transportation in the state”, she stated, calling on the government to subsidize public transport at a critical time like this.
“If the government can afford to buy three airbuses within two months, which is clearly for the elites, what stops the same government from subsidizing public transportation in the spirit of Christianity”, noted another respondent, adding that, the electorates were not in anyway jealous of the elites who travel by air.
“What is good for the goose is also good for the gender”, the electorates appealed.
