The Useh community in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State has commenced the burial ceremony of their late Enogie, His Royal Highness Otamere Olomuza Eweka.
The burial ceremony of the late Enogie of Useh Dukedom began on August 31 and will end on September 16, 2024.
According to a programme of activities signed by the Enogie’s family, the burial ceremony began with Iwaorhinmwin (Night Dance) on August 31, followed by family rites on September 1, Izakhue (Night Dance) on September 2, family rites on September 3, Isoton (Rest On Dance) on September 4, family rites on September 5, traditional rites on September 6 and 7, and afternoon general dance (12 noon) on September 8.
The activities will continue on Monday, September 9 (today) through Friday, September 13 with Itamwin (Indoor). There will be Isuerhanfua on September 14, Thanksgiving Service on September 15, and end of burial ceremony on September 16.
“All activities from the 31st of August to 16th September 2024 take place at the palace of HRH, Useh, Benin City, Edo State,” the family said.
In an interview with The Nigerian Observer, the Enobore of Useh Dukedom, Chief Peter Igbinigie Omo-Idahosa, who is also the DG of Obidient Movement for Okpebholo, said the late Enogie was loved by his people and will be sorely missed.
Enogie Otamere Olomuza Eweka was born in 1966. He is survived by two wives, 20 children and nine grandchildren.
