THE Director of Sports of Edo State Sports Council, Charity Igbinedion is optimistic that Edo State will perform well in the National Sports Festival which will hold in Calabar, Cross Rivers State.Charity Igbinedion explained that they need funds to be able to actualise his dream and those of the coaches, secretaries and the entire people of Edo State who wants the state athletes to emerge tops in the sports festival.
“We need financial assistance from the state government. We will solicit for the support of corporate bodies for funds to enable our athletes do well in the National Sports Festival”.
He stated that the athletes will go into camp to intensify their training sessions before the festival.
The former Head Coach of Edo Taekwondo disclosed that all the Directors of Sports in the country would hold a meeting on March 11, 2015 in which they would discuss issues concerning this year’s National Sports Festival.
The Director of Sports also explained that the outcome of the meeting would tell whether the April date earlier scheduled remains or would be changed to a subsequent date.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank our State Governor Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole for his immense development of sports. I know the governor is an action man. He loves sports and would continue to do his utmost to ensure Edo State does well in the forth coming National Sports Festival.
He also expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Prestly Ediagbonya for his great effort to ensure that Edo returns to her prime place in the country in terms of sports.
“Our Commissioner of Sports, Hon. Prestly Ediagbonya is an astute and dynamic gentleman who believes so much in achieving his set goals. He is fighting seriously in order Edo State does we in the National Sports Festival.
