London – Arsenal moved up to second in the Premier League on Saturday after a 4-1 win over Liverpool, denting their opponents’ hopes of a top-four spot.
Goals from Hector Bellerin, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez put the game beyond Liverpool before a Jordan Henderson penalty gave the visitors hope of a comeback.
Liverpool then had Emre Can sent off for a second booking and Olivier Giroud slammed in the fourth in added time.
The result lifted Arsenal to within four points of leaders Chelsea, though they have played two games more, while Liverpool remain fifth, five points off the top four.
Later on Saturday, Chelsea can restore their advantage by beating Stoke City.
