At 20 years, 314 days, Victor is Wembanyama is the fourth-youngest player to score 50 points after his mind-blowing performance during San Antonio Spurs’ win against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night in the NBA.

However, the Spurs nearly walked away without a win. Shortly after the Frenchman’s departure with the Spurs leading 120-101, Jordan Poole scored 15 points, bringing the gap down to just seven, with Wembanyama back in the game. Unfortunately for the Wizards, there wasn’t much time left, and San Antonio secured their sixth win in 12 game as opposed to Washington who has only managed to win two of their ten encounters.

The French basketball player hit eight three-pointers, then, the center scored 50 points, surpassing his previous record of 40 points set back in March of last season. This performance made him the fourth-youngest player in league history to achieve such numbers, trailing only Brandon Jennings (20/52), LeBron James (20/80) and Devin Booker (20/145).

Wembanyama is the eighth player in franchise history to score 50 points. David Robinson holds the franchise record with 71 points against the Los Angeles Clippers on April 24, 1994.

In addition, Wembanyama has achieved another impressive milestone. He is the first player in NBA history to make 20 three-pointers and record 25 blocks over a span of six games. In these six games, he has averaged 3.3 three-point field goals made and 4.2 blocks.

“I wish I could say that I woke up feeling something different, that I would have a great night, but it didn’t happen that way. At the end of the day, NBA games are back to back. We struggle with warm-ups, we feel pain, sweat, and bleed on the court. It’s about putting in the effort for 48 minutes,” Wembanyama said.

The Spurs will return to the court against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, while the Wizards will face the Atlanta Hawks on the road, also on Friday. Both games will be part of the NBA Cup.
