…as UWC Ladies battle FAR RABAT in final group today
Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership defending champions, Edo Queens, are on the brink of advancing to the semi-finals of the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco.
A draw in their upcoming match against current CAF Women’s Champions League titleholders, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies on Saturday at 6:00pm, will secure their place in the final four.
In their second group match, Edo Queens held Masar FC of Egypt to a goalless draw, bringing their total to four points from two games and maintaining their unbeaten run. They currently top Group B on goal difference, with Masar FC also on four points. Mamelodi Sundowns trail with three points, while Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) sit at the bottom without a point.
Edo Queens have impressed in their debut CAF Women’s Champions League appearance and can progress with a draw against Mamelodi Sundowns. Masar FC also stands close to qualification and will face CBE on Saturday in their final group-stage match.
Meanwhile, in Group A, University of Western Cape (UWC) from South Africa bounced back with a 2-0 victory over Aigles de la Medina of Senegal.
AS FAR of Morocco leads the group with six points after defeating TP Mazembe of DR Congo and has secured the first semi-final spot.
TP Mazembe and UWC will compete for the remaining Group A semi-final ticket, with TP Mazembe facing Aigles de la Medina and UWC LADIES taking on FAR RABAT in the final group matches today.
