NIGERIA’S first Lady Dame Patience Jonathan has reiterated the determination of the Goodluck Jonathan led administration to raise women’s appointive quota in governance from the subsisting 35 per cent to 40 per cent.
She disclosed this yesterday at the Oba’s Palace while addressing the wives of the Benin Monarch, Oba Erediauwa.
The first lady use the occasion to appreciate the supportive role of the Benin palace to the present administration led by her husband, just as she acknowledged the efficacy of the prayers offered for her husband by the palace in 2011.
The first lady therefore asked for such continuous support, as she hinted that she was in Benin City to canvass for votes for President Jonathan.
She adjudged Edo State to be a beacon and flag bearer of peace in the South – South Geo political region.
Responding on behalf of the other Queens, Oloi Osarugue Erediauwa advised the First Lady to stand by her words, so as to get more women into appointive positions.
She was presented a bronze work of art by Oloi Osarugue, just as she wished her well in her endeavours.
The president’s wife was accompanied to the Palace by Dr, Kema Chikwe PDP National Women Leader among others.
