The Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Edo State, Hon. (Mrs.) Blessing Maigida has reiterated the need for women’s rights and gender equality to be the focal point of all efforts geared towards building an egalitarian Society. The is contained in a press release from the Women Affairs Ministry on the occasion of the International Women’s Day celebration today.

This, she said, would ensure that the Affirmative Process is not truncated, even as she advised the electorate to vote in only those who would bring the desired change in the nation’s economic, social and political fortunes; those who would help the growth and stability process, and work tirelessly to ensure Nigeria competes favourably on the global stage.
While wishing all women a happy International Women’s Day Celebration, she also appealed to Nigerians to embrace peace by shunning all acts of violence, including campaigns replete with hate speeches and other incisive words.
