BENIN CITY- The Benin leaders of thought (BLT) have called on the electorate in Edo South Senatorial District to reciprocate the brilliant performance of Governor Adams Oshiomhole by voting All APC candidates in the state House of Assembly election on Saturday.
The Enogie of Obazuwa, His Royal Highness, Edun Akenzua who spoke on behalf of the socio-cultural body yesterday said that the issue should be what the state gets and not what individual or the party gets.”
He recalled that PDP leaders had prior to the March 28 general elections met with about 100 Enigie of Benin Kingdom on the need to get, Edo State Senatorial District out of opposition government.
He listed the leaders led by Captain Hosa Okunbor as the Edo South Senatorial chairman of PDP, Chief Lucky Imasuen, Coordinator of President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign team, Pastor Osagie Ize –Iyamu and three Benin palace Chiefs, including the Eson, Nobabo and Uwayoba of Benin Kingdom respectively.
“The men spoke individually. The Kernel of their speech was that it was bad politics for Edo people to vote themselves into a political tight corner by remaining in the opposition as they had been”, he said.
At a stage, he (Hosa) went on his knees, pleading fervently that the Enigie should recognize the imperative of getting out of the opposition to the Federal Government.
“He sounded earnest, indeed, all speakers before him sounded so too. They appear to love Benin, their mother land, and wished to move from darkness to light.
“Benin Leaders of thought, hereby call on all Benins to heed the wise counsel freely given by Captain Hosa, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and Mr. Lucky Imasuen to Edo people not to put themselves in the opposition”, the Enogie stated.
While recalling the fate of Ndi Igbo in the political calculation, having lost out in their chance of clinching principal positions in the Senate, he urged people of Edo South to vote Hon Samson Osagie in the rescheduled National Assembly election in Orhionmwon Local Government Area on Saturday, saying he is the only hope of Edo State getting a principal position in the yet to be constituted Senate.
“This is a question of having to choose between an individual or the state for political advancement”, he added.
