The Senator-elect for the Edo North Senatorial District, Maj. (Barr.) Francis Alimikhena (rtd) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dedicated his victory in the last Saturday’s senatorial election to Almighty God and to his party APC supporters.
Maj. (Barr.) Alimikhena (rtd) stated this after receiving his certificate of return as the winner of the senatorial election declared by the returning officer; Prof. Solomon Esharegoma Omonigho said the victory is a collective effort of the party members hence; it is a beginning of a new dawn for the people of the senatorial district and better representation at the upper chamber.
While addressing journalists at the council hall in Auchi, the administrative headquarters of Etsako West Local government, the venue of the collation centre, commended the members for the way and manner they comported themselves during and after the election. .
According to him, I’m very grateful for the overwhelming support, it’s been a long journey, but eventually we got there, we are happy to have won this election, so I will be making your priorities my ultimate responsibility as all the promises made during electioneering would be fulfilled.
The senator-elect who seemed to be the only senator-elect under APC from the South-south and south –east used the opportunity to appeal to the people to support and vote for all the APC candidates in the forthcoming April 11 State House of Assembly elections so as to sustain the existing peace, growth and development led by the state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole in the state
Meanwhile, Barr. Francis Alimikhena of All Progressive Congress scored 86,021 votes to defeat his closest rival Barr Pascal Ugbomeh of the People Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 66,062 votes and Hon Abubakar Momoh of Social Democratic Party (SDP) with 23,650 votes in a keenly contested Edo north senatorial election.
