OWERRI – The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in Imo, Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho, has called on INEC to ensure that the Governorship and State Assembly elections is conducted smoothly.
Ihenacho gave the advice when he addressed newsmen on the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections in Owerri, Imo State.
Ihenacho, who decried the card reader challenges that characterised Saturday’s elections among others, urged the commission to make contingency plans for the next elections.
“There must have been a fundamental technical problem which was not addressed and this made the card readers to malfunction in almost every polling unit across the nation,’’ he said.
He said that the problem associated with the card readers delayed the election until evening.
On the arrests in the state on the Election Day, Ihenacho said the security agencies were doing their duties of ensuring law and order.
He added that no party was singled out for intimidation by the security agencies.
The Governorship and State Houses of Assembly election will hold on April 11.
