… recounts selling valuables to establish orphanage, transform lives
… expresses gratitude for partners’ unwavering support
Mrs. Kate Okunrobo Odianosen, founder and Chief Executive Officer of God’s Grace Orphanage and Motherless Babies Home (GGOMBH), has shared her inspiring journey of selflessness and determination in transforming lives.
Speaking during a teleconference with journalists, Okunrobo recounted the challenges, sacrifices, and victories that have defined her humanitarian mission.
Driven by a deep compassion for the underprivileged, Okunrobo established GGOMBH to provide a lifeline for orphans, abuse survivors, and traumatized individuals. She noted that while her efforts bring no financial gain, the impact on lives and communities makes it all worthwhile.
“Growing up, I knew myself to be a compassionate person, but I never set out to become a humanitarian,” Okunrobo shared. “However, life challenges hit me hard. As a young girl, I faced rejection, dropped out of school, and struggled with emotional and psychological issues. I felt like living a meaningful life was out of reach.”
Despite these hardships, Okunrobo discovered a calling to help others. “I had dreams and visions from God, paired with an undying passion to support and uplift the underprivileged. Coming from a polygamous family of 16 siblings, I knew what it meant to grow up in a challenging environment,” she recalled.
The turning point came in 2011 when Okunrobo made a sacrificial decision to sell her cherished valuables to fund the establishment of God’s Grace Orphanage. “This decision almost cost me my marriage due to the financial strain, but it was necessary to bring the vision to life,” she said.
Today, the orphanage stands as a world-class facility in Ovbukhun, Sapele Road, Benin City, Edo State. It provides private education, modern amenities, and a safe haven for orphans and abuse survivors.
“The life-changing testimonies from those in my care are proof of the unwavering commitment I have to make a difference,” Okunrobo said.
Reflecting on her own struggles, she noted, “I didn’t have the privilege of attending quality schools or even having a decent mattress to sleep on. Now, the children under my care have access to quality education, proper shelter, and the opportunity to live happy and fulfilling lives.”
Okunrobo’s story is a testament to resilience, compassion, and the power of transformational leadership. She expressed profound gratitude to the partners who have supported GGOMBH since its inception and those who joined in 2022, enabling the orphanage to expand its reach and impact.
“We would not be where we are today without your kind and continuous support,” she concluded, urging more individuals to join the cause of transforming lives.
Kate Okunrobo’s life story serves as an inspiration, encouraging others to contribute to humanitarian efforts and make a difference in their communities.
