Abuja- A Karu Upper Area Court, Abuja, has sentenced an applicant, Samaila Dogari, 53, to seven months imprisonment for impersonation, breach of trust and cheating.
The convict lives at Lugbe Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Abuja.
The Presiding Officer, Hassan Ishaq, sentenced the convict after pleading guilty to a three-count charge of impersonation, breach of trust and cheating.
The court, however, gave the convict an option of N18, 000 fine.
The prosecutor, Insp. Stephen Agbor-Okwu, had earlier told the court that one Dominic Kwele attached to Guard Brigade Provost Office, Asokoro, Abuja, brought the convict to Asokoro Police Station.
Agbor-okwu said on December 27, 2014, the convict introduced himself as a soldier and asked one Yakubu Mansir, a motorcyclist of Mpape, Abuja, to take him to Mambilia Barrack, Asokoro, with his motorcycle.
He said on getting to the barrack, the convict pleaded with Mansir to give him the motorcycle to enter the barrack to see his friend and deceitfully swore to bring it back.
The prosecutor said although the convict absconded with the motorcycle to an unknown destination, he was arrested on January 24, in connection with the crime.
He said the convict had during investigation confessed to have committed the crime, which contravened sections 132, 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
