LAGOS – The Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) has said it would open more tourism information desks at the nation’s airports for travellers’ comfort.
Mrs Sally Mbanefo, Director-General of NTDC, stated this in an interview with newsmen in Lagos.
She said the new information desks would reposition the tourism image of the country.
Mbanefo said the initiative was arrived at in partnership with a tour operator, Viko Nigeria Ltd.
She said NTDC, in collaboration with Viko Nigeria Ltd., recently opened two tourism information desks at the Murtala Muhammed Airport and the old domestic airport, Lagos.
“The idea is to ease traveller’s burden in locating tourism destinations’’, Mbanefo said.
She said NTDC inaugurated a tourism information desk three weeks ago at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.
Mbanefo said the information desk had a travel information portal as well as flight schedules for tourists.
The director-general said passengers could through the portal, access tourism sites, tourism activities, tourism products, hotels, car hire services, events and festivals.
“They can also make enquiries on excursions in Nigeria.
“Tour operators and tour guides are also on ground to take travellers to various tourism sites in the country’’, she said.
The director-general urged Nigerians to support NTDC in its drive to develop tourism in Nigeria.
Mbanefo urged stakeholders in the telecommunication, oil and gas; and banking sectors to collaborate with the NTDC to create the desired awareness on tourism.
She said she would intensify efforts to ensure that domestic tourism flourished in the country.
