The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert warning citizens about the illegal production and sale of unregistered B-GAG HEALTHY Medicine (Mist. Pot Cit. Syrup) by Babban Gida Agalawa General Enterprises.
According to the official release by NAFDAC on Wednesday, the product was discovered during surveillance activities in Maiduguri, Borno, and Keffi, Nasarawa States, and was found to be without a NAFDAC Registration number and with misleading labeling information.
The agency therefore warned against marketing illegal medicines explaining that it poses a significant risk to people’s health, as the safety, quality, and efficacy of such products are not guaranteed.
NAFDAC has further directed its zonal directors and state coordinators to carry out surveillance and mop up the illegal products within their zones and states, advising consumers and caregivers to exercise caution and vigilance to avoid using the product.
“Healthcare professionals and consumers are encouraged to report any suspicion of the sale of substandard and falsified medicines or medical devices to the nearest NAFDAC office or through the agency’s e-reporting platforms,” the Agency stated.
