…as Deputy Governor represents his principal @ UNIBEN convocation
The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed the commitment of his administration in providing quality and affordable education for citizens of the state.
This is even as he said that the University of Benin, UNIBEN has grown in leaps and bounds over the years, witnessing a monumental stride in infrastructural and human capital development towards nation building.
The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Rt Hon Dennis ldahosa, spoke during the 49th & 50th convocation ceremony of the institution at the weekend.
Governor Okpebholo stated that transformation of the education sector was a major pillar of his administration 5 -point agenda.
According to him: ‘we have started this process by embarking on the renovation/reconstruction of dilapidated school structures in the basic education sub -sector of the state’s education eco-system’.
He asserted that the popular mandate given to his administration by the people has given rise to a new Edo.
Okpebholo congratulated the out-going Vice Chancellor of UNIBEN, Prof Lilian Salami, for her purposeful leadership since assuming office in 2019; while also extending warm felicitations to the incoming Vice Chancellor, Prof Edoba Bright Omoregie.
He also congratulated the graduands and honorary awardees, admonishing them to be good ambassadors of the university.
Highlights of the event was the conferment of higher degrees, diplomas, honorary degrees and professor emeritus status on deserving graduands and awardees.
