BENIN CITY – Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has described the former Woman Leader of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) now All Progressives Congress (APC), late Princess (Mrs.) Violet Modinotu Emovon (JP) as the most consistent politician ever known.
Oshiomhole dropped this hint during the Service of Songs for Princess Modinotu Emovon held yesterday at the First Anglican Church Mission in Benin City.
Speaking on the life and times of late Mrs. Modinotu Emovon, Oshiomhole said, “She was my Woman Leader in the defunct AC, ACN and the now APC. She was also by her last appointment Coordinator, Women Empowerment Program. She is one of the most consistent Politicians that I know.
He said, “Modinotu Emovon was a woman with strong convictions and she will do exactly what she believes in and we all benefitted from her wisdom and during our very difficult period when our election was rigged in 2007, she turned her office to a church room where she had a permanent prayer group that was praying everyday for God divine intervention for justice and at the end, justice prevailed.
While lamenting the exit of the former Woman Leader in the state party fold, Oshiomhole added, “There is no body in the APC family who will not miss her, she was there for everyone. Even when at some point there was temptation, when people moved on to what we call Federal Might, she stayed with our local champions.
Oshiomhole expressed her concerns for the development of Edo State, maintaining that her sudden departure is absolutely irreplaceable.
Earlier in an homily, the Curate/Bishop Chaplain, Rev. Canon, Timothy Osasuyi who dwelled on the message, ‘Take God first in everything you do’ taken from Ecclesiastes Chapter 1 vs 1-4 called on the congregation to take God first in all that they do, saying that everything on earth will one day come to an end.
He said, “Our sister we are celebrating today has gone to rest. We are now talking to ourselves today, we are no longer talking to her. When you forget God or you decide to neglect God in everything you do, where do you go from there”?
The preacher admonished that life is all vanities, maintaining that we all came to this earth empty and no one goes back with nothing no matter the wealth he may have acquired and therefore called on both believers and unbelievers alike to be heavenly conscious.
While describing the role of the late Mrs. Modino Emovon in the House of God, the Clergy man said he has no doubt that she is resting in the bosom of the Lord Jesus in heaven and called on those in government to use their positions to glorify the name of God.
The program was attended by crème d la crème in the Society from across various political divides including the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rev. Peter Obadan, Senator Roland Owie, Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Pius Odubu, Speaker Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uyi Igbe amongst others.
