SOKOTO – The Sokoto State Police Command has commenced a 24-hour patrol of schools, to safeguard the lives of students in the state.
The Spokesman of the command, Mr Al-Mustapha Sani, told newsmen in Sokoto that it was part of holistic security measures adopted to protect lives and properties in the state.
“This is part of the sustainable and proactive measures taken by the command to ensure that all schools across the state are more secured.
“It is also to provide conducive environment for effective teaching and learning across the state,” he said.
Sani further said that the command had organised a seminar for principals, head teachers and schools proprietors to promote security consciousness among them.
The police spokesman said that the seminar was also be used to appraise the stakeholders on extra measures to take in protecting members of their school community and level of collaboration required with security agencies.
“They can also go a step further by engaging the personnel of reputable private security guards in this direction,” Sani added.
He advised the schools to promptly report the movement of any suspicious person or groups, for immediate response by security agencies.
