WINSTON Reid has signed a new six-and-a-half year contract with West Ham, ending speculation surrounding his future at the east London club.
Goal exclusively revealed on Monday that the New Zealand international was close to penning new terms, having previously been intent on seeing out a contract that was due to expire in the summer, a situation that had triggered interest from the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham.
The 26-year-old, though, has committed himself to the Hammers until 2021, landing a bumper new deal, and is thrilled to have extended his stay at Upton Park.
“It’s one of those things that took a bit of time, but we got there in the end and I’m very happy to be here for the next part of my career. I’m looking forward to it,” Reid told the club’s official website, who also confirmed that “several leading European clubs [had] expressed interest in acquiring his services”.
