BENIN CITY – Lands and Surveys Commissioner, Hon. Joseph Ayegbeni Ugheoke (JP), has presented cheques to the affected road construction victims in Urhonigbe community. The presentation took place on February 26, 2015, at the conference hall of the Ministry in Benin City.
As a measure of relief coupled with the promises of the State Government to look into the plight of the affected persons, it’s a promise fulfilled as cheques written on the names of the affected person were disbursed and joy beamed on the faces of the victims.
Some of the beneficiaries included Hon. (Barr) Orjierhiakhin Friday Osakpamwan, Patience Oubigbaghou and others.
The Estate Agent to the affected victims, Estate Surveyor Melody Odumah thanked the Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Joseph Ugheoke for the speedy action in ensuring the immediate disbursement of cheques, also thanked the Comrade Governor Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole for being a man of his words.
The Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Joseph Ugheoke also used the medium to inform all affected victims to come and collect their cheques and urged the people of Urhonigbe Community to remain calm and peaceful which they are known for.
In like manner ldunomwina and Iholor Communities of Ovia North East played host to the Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Joseph Ugheoke (JP) on 5th March, 2015; in Benin City to receive their cheques compensation with regards to Azura power plant construction sited in their Communities.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of the Community Secretary in person of lqsnemlo Clifford, women, youths and men of both communities.
The Honourable Commissioner noted that before now, series of meetings have been held and reconciling the names of these affected and the ones not affected.
Hon. Ugheoke further advised the communities to go home and maintain peace. He explained that Azura power plant investment came through the efforts of Edo State Governor, come to Edo the Comrade Governor Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole. The company needs good return of their investment. This is achieved when there is peace between the communities and the company. He stressed that the community is the first beneficiary, and if this investment succeeds, other companies will come; whereby the Sons and daughters of the communities will be employed and wealth will spread, he said.
The Honourable Commissioner promised to visit the communities very soon and urged the beneficiaries to be source of happiness and ambassadors of peace to their communities.
Responding, one of the beneficiaries, Mr. Ngomali Victor sincerely thanked the Honourable Commissioner, Hon, Ugheoke, for his prompt action in disbursing the cheques to the affected persons. He solicited that two “G BOZAS”, be given to the Comrade Governor Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole for being a “Talki na —do”, more so, for the care of the citizens.
Estate Surveyor Melody Odumah, the Agent to Idunomwina and Iholor Communities appreciated the Honourable Commissioner and described him as “action Commissioner” noting that the Comrade Governor Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole made the right choice of Hon. Ugheoke as Commissioner to the appropriate Ministry of Lands and Survey, saying where there is an efficient administrator, the Comrade Governor have less worry or can sleep; hoping for good result.
The permanent Secretary, Michael Okojie Esq. expressed gratitude to the Honourable Commissioner Hon. Ugheoke (JP) for apt action and urged the communities to maintain peace and harmony.
