ABUJA -Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal yesterday warned all stakeholders on the political scene to be careful in order not to subvert the country’s democracy, stressing that the signs are very ominous for the country.
Tambuwal who spoke while receiving a delegation of the Nigerian Civil Society Situation Room led by Clement Nwankwo said the warning was necessary because some individuals were not interested in free and fair elections.
While calling on stakeholders to work together for the growth of the country, the Speaker described the call for interim government as treasonable.
He equally called on politicians to be brave enough to accept election results even when such result do not favour them.
Honourable Tambuwal also warned the media to be mindful of the nature of political adverts aired urging them to ensure that it conforms with the rules and ethics of their profession.
In his remarks, Mr Nwankwo had expressed worry over comments by Nigerians that elections will not hold, saying such a development would be tragic.
