KADUNA – Malam Nuhu Bature, the traditional ruler of the Bajju people in Zangon Kataf, Kaduna State, has cautioned politicians against unguarded utterances that might lead to crisis in the state.
The Agwam Bajju made the call in his palace at Zangon Kataf when Governor Mukhtar Yero of Kaduna State paid him a courtesy visit as part of his campaign tour of the area.
Bature, who spoke on behalf of two other traditional rulers, the Emirs of Ikulu and that of Kamanta, said peace was the bedrock of any development.
He said those seeking to lead the people should at all times demonstrate responsible attitude to issues affecting their communities.
The traditional chief, therefore, appealed to politicians to “watch the kind of statements they make in the media, so as to ensure peace and harmony in the society.’’
Bature appreciated the decision of the state government to establish a university of science and technology in Kafanchan, saying it would expand opportunities for qualified candidates to gain admission.
“We can see that the work is in progress, and we believe that it is not just a promise,” he said, adding that the people of the area look forward to its conclusion.’’
The monarch reassured the governor of the support of all traditional leaders in the area in the forthcoming elections.
He urged people in his domain to pray for peaceful election, so that Nigeria could progress.
Earlier, Governor Yero said he was at the palace to seek for support and blessings of the traditional rulers.
He pledged to look into the request of district heads in the state for an increase in their allowances.
The governor commiserated with the people of the area over the recent attack by gunmen that resulted in loss of lives, and prayed for continued peace in the state and the country at large.
