Lagos – The presidential candidate of the KOWA Party, Prof. Oluremi Sonaiya, has said that she would give equal opportunity to all Nigerians to contribute to national development, if elected.
At a news conference in Lagos, Sonaiya said that her administration would ensure that all sections of the population would enjoy dividends of democracy.
“A KOWA government will seek to be all-inclusive, working to ensure that no section of the population feels excluded.
“Policies will be put into place to ensure that buildings in all public places (banks, schools, business and leisure places, as well as places of worship) are accessible by wheelchair.
“ Braille and sign languages will be mainstreamed into public communication activities,” Sonaiya said.
She further said that she would ensure a ‘living’ pension for the aged and people living in the very low income bracket.
The presidential candidate promised that her administration would uphold and defend the dignity of all human beings.
She said that her policies and programmes would take gender perspectives into consideration, adding that women must be protected by law from all forms of exploitation and socio-cultural practices which robbed them of dignity.
She promised to also provide women with all they would need to carry pregnancy safely and deliver healthy babies.
“Maternal maternity must be drastically reduced,’’ she said.
Sonaiya said that her administration would protect Nigerian children against danger and diseases, adding that all necessary immunisation would be provided.
She pledged to protect all children from exploitation through increased support to relevant agencies.
“A KOWA government will work to ensure that no Nigerian child is trafficked, that years of free, mandatory schooling are adhered to and that all our children are given the opportunity of a safe and happy childhood.
