OKADA (Edo) – No fever than 250 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okada West (Ward 1), Ovia North East Local Government Area, Edo State.
The defected PDP members who were mainly youths, led by Mr. Harrison Osayomwanbor were received by the Local Government Council Chairman, Barr. Mrs. Lucy Omagbon and the APC Chairman in the area, Comrade Benson Edosomwan.
Mr. Osayomwanbor who spoke for the Okada PDP decampees tore his PDP membership card before the APC leaders who received them, indicating,  that he will not return to his old party.
He said that they decided to dump PDP for APC without anyone swaying them because they cannot afford to be the last in the sinking ship, they added that they also want to properly appreciate the good work APC government led by Governor Adams Oshiomhole is doing in Edo State.
One of the defecters, Mr. Jide who spoke in Yoruba languages while thanking the APC leadership in Okada for receiving them into the ruling party, urged the entire Yoruba community in Ovia Federal constituency to support Governor Adams Oshiomhole by voting for all APC candidates in Saturday’s elections.
That, he said is the only way to appreciate and help the Governor sustain his development agenda for the state.
Addressing the former PDP members, the Ovia North East Local Government boss, Mrs. Omagbon and the party chairman, Comrade Edosomwan assured them of fair treatment and equal opportunity, adding that the door of the party is open to anyone with genuine intentions to join hands with the Governor in consolidating on his achievement so far.
