BENIN CITY- Over ten establishments, including banks, schools and filling stations have been sealed up by the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) in Benin City.
They were sealed up following their failure to remit the Pay As You Earn (PAYE)taxes to the Edo State Government.
Addressing newsmen during the tax enforcement exercise in Benin City, the Director of Tax Enforcement/ Intelligence, EIRS, Mr. Victor Okube said the defaulters failed to remit the PAYE taxes deducted from their staff, despite service of notice served on them, hence the EIRS resorted to a court order to distrain their business premises.
He urged the tax defaulters to ensure they comply by remitting their taxes which he (Okube) estimated to the tune of N 90,824,408.37.
