BENIN CITY- Youths in Benin City, Edo State have described the state government policy agriculture as a welcomed development, that would help empower youths and improve the Nigeria economy.

Speaking with The NIGERIAN OBSERVER, a man in Benin City who gave his name, as John Usifo said, “it is a good thing to go into farming, because it’s a way to improve the economy of the country.” According to him, “since the rate of unemployment for the youths is actually high, so, a way to reduce the unemployment rate is to engage youths into Agriculture.”

He also said that, “hen you say agriculture, we have various diverse aspect of it, which are crops farming and animal production.” He added that poultry and fish farming can easily improve the Nigeria economy and reduce the rate of unemployment and social vices in the society.

According to him, “The government can encourage youths by giving out loans facility to entrepreneurs and people that are interested in agriculture.”

Another interviewees who gave their names as Destiny and Precious also stated that they like the idea and would like to venture into farming, if they could be assisted with loans and land for them to farm on.

Mr. Precious, on his part added that he would like to go into poultry farming, if he could be supported with loan facility and land.

They expressed anticipation in government providing necessary resources for youths to key into the agriculture policy of the government.
