BENIN CITY: Edo State Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki has charged Muslims in the state to continue to live in harmony with their Christian brothers and sisters as this will strengthen the peace, unity and co-existence enjoyed in the state.
 
He gave the charge when he hosted the Muslims to an event to celebrate the Eid-El-Kabir in government house in Benin City yesterday.
 
Obaseki who was represented by the Commissioner for Art, Culture and Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Osaze Osemwegie-Ero said his administration will ensure that the peace, unity and peaceful co-existence between the Muslims, Christians and other religion is strengthened in the state as his administration can only deliver the dividend of democracy to the people of the state in a peaceful atmosphere.
 
“I am quiet happy with the unity and peaceful co-existence of our Muslims and Christians brothers and sisters in the state. I want the peace and unity to continue as my vision is to ensure the unity is sustained and strengthened” he concluded.
 
In his remark, the representative of the Chief Imam of Benin Alhaji Ismaila Enabulele thanked the Edo State governor for the provision of Sallah gifts for the Muslim community, support render to Muslim pilgrim for the hajji and also for this reception given to them and assured his administration of their continuous support to ensure the administration succeed in its efforts to develop the state.
 
He commended the governor Obaseki for the inter-religious harmony experienced in the state. He added that peace is a pre-condition for development and necessary to grow trust, tolerant and respect amongst citizens in the state.
 
Alhaji Enabulele urged all Nigerians to use this Sallar celebration to re-examine themselves, raise their level of commitment and be patriotic to the nation.
Guest present at the event includes the Head of Service of Edo State Gladdys Idahor, Communication and orientation Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, commissioner for Infrastructure Hon. Osahon Amiolemen amongst others.
