BENIN CITY-A retired military officer has been murdered by her own gateman who also set corpse ablaze inside her apartment in GRA, Benin City.
The victim Major Afisatu Ajuya was allegedly hit on the head with an object and strangulated by guard said to have been assisted by nine others now in police net.
It was learnt that the incident occurred last Sunday.
The suspects were said to have broke into her apartment and made away with valuables like jewelries and phones.
When our reporter visited the state police command headquarters, Benin City, yesterday the ten suspects were seen given their statements at the homicide section, inside the Criminal Investigation Department, (CID)).
Confirming the story, State Police Commissioner, Johnson Kokumo, said it was a case of robbery, arson and murder.
CP Kokumo added that the suspects killed their victim and set fire on the place to make it look like the victim died from the fire incident.
