EKPOMA -The scheduled local government primary elections of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State was yesterday disrupted following violent conducts by some party members.

Altercation between members of opposing factions of party degenerated into violence causing party members to scamper for safety.

Frustration began to set in after endless wait for party officials expected from Benin to conduct the primary election, causing some members to become impatient and unruly.

The chairmanship ticket of the party in the local government is between former commissioner of Basic Education in Edo State, Hon. Patrick Aguinede and Mr. Itama Ogbidi.

The chairman of APC in the local government, Mr. Joseph Aisedion who was taken aback by the delay, said the party members in the local government would resist any move to foist an unpopular candidate on the party in the local government.

He said the party officials and members of the local government had endorsed Mr. Itama Ogbidi, as he was the most popular among the candidates of the party.

A former aid the former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Mr. Marcus Onobu expressed confidence that the party would choose the right candidate in the end.

The leader of the party the local government area, Elder Pius Omofuma who expressed surprised at delay, was however optimistic that the popular candidate would be chosen.

He expressed his respect and trust in the governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and the leader of the party in the state, Former Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
