The Chairman, Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC), Prof. Stanley Orobator and some electorate have commended the security arrangements in today’s local government council’s elections in Edo State, describing it as the best in recent times.

The commendation was given when the state commissioner of police Mr Johnson Kokumo and the state Comptroller, Nigeria Immigration Service Mr Eniolorunda Kayode led other senior officers in their commands to two voting centres and EDSIEC Headquarters all in Orodo local government area of the state.

Welcoming the CP and his entourage to his office, EDSIEC boss Prof Stanley Orobator said he was impressed with the tight security put in place before and during the elections.

“CP, I hardly tell people that I am impressed, and when I say it I mean every sense of it. I am really impressed. Thank you.” Prof Orobator stated.

He further stated that information at his disposal revealed that adequate security arrangements were provided for EDSIEC officers and election materials across the 18 local councils in Edo State.

Hailing the entourage of the commissioner of police to Adesuwa and Emokpae Primary Schools, Benin City, some voters said the security on ground informed their participation as some hoodlums had earlier threatened to forment trouble at the voting centres.

They however appealed to the CP and his entourage to replicate the feat at other polling stations across the 18 local government areas of the state.

It was learnt that adequate security equally heralded the excercise across the state as no case of violence has been reported at press time.

Speaking during the excercise, the commissioner of police reassured residents of adequate security of lives and property before, during and after the local government polls.
