The first woman to contest election under the National Reformation Party, NRP led by late Chief Anthony Eromosele Enahoro, the nationalist who moved the motion for Nigeria’s independence, Princess Omono Okojie has called on the Federal Government to also consider a post humous award for Chief Enahoro.

In a statement issued to newsmen, Princess Okojie described the nationalist as “ A Chieftain of NADECO who fought for democracy in Nigeria and he realized that for so long as we persisted in operating by the rules of the past , we could not hope to have a new vision of the future and he foresaw the changes that the time are bringing long before the June 12 crisis , which became an eye opener for many people.

The elder state man who describe the winner of the June 12 , 1993 presidential election, the late Bashorun Moshood Abiola as a man of courage had noted that the late politician represented dreams of a new and modern Nigeria.

It will forever be tragic because his dream and the dreams of many Nigerians could not be fulfilled through him. The declaration of June12 as democracy day in honour of Chief Abiola by President Muhammadu Buhari has received so much commendation across the length and breadth of the nation and oversees.

But the president should go further to recognize the contributions of some other nationalists, such as Chief Anthony Enahoro, who sacrificed his youth and old age fighting the colonialist and military Juntas for the democracy we are all enjoying today.

The former special adviser to Chief Anthony Enahoro on women issues and their roles in government between 2000 and 2005, further noted that the democrats who were hunted for their involvement in the pro-democracy campaign should be remembered so that the labour of our heroes past will not be in vain.

Princess Okojie contested for the House of Representative seat on the platform of the National Reformation Party, [Esan North East and Esan South East in 2002] under the leadership of Nigeria’s architect of independence, a man of unmistakable integrity, late chief Anthony Enahoro.

She holds a B.A in international relations from the University of Maryland, college park, and Baltimore, Maryland USA.
A former special Assistant on National Peace Reconciliation, South South zone (An initiative of Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state, Princess Okojie was also special adviser to Mrs. Josephine Anenih, a position zoned to the South South (1999-2000).

She is the initiator and founder, Women Empowerment Network (WOENET) and she is interested to represent Esan North East and Esan South East in the house of representative from 2019.
