BENIN CITY (UDO)- As part of it Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to host communities, Rubber Estate, Nigeria Limited (RENL), a leading rubber plantation firm in Nigeria has donated learning materials worth millons of naira to three primary schools in its Osse operational site.

The firm said the aim is to improve the learning skills of pupils of the schools
The schools are, Estate Primary School, Osse- Udo 1, Osse River Primary School, New Land, Udo and Estate Primary School, Iguobazuwa.

The Managing Director, RENL, Philippe Carty said the gesture was part of the company’s resolve to boost the quality of education in the area in order to safeguard the lives of people in host communities.

Noting that education is the bedrock of any development, Carty added that, for the area to grow, there is need to invest in the education of the people.

“Rubber Estates, Nigeria Limited priorities more in education as we have started distributing text books to schools in our various site across the country ,so that the pupils can learn adquently.

“We have discovered that most of these schools needs these learning materials to impact knowledge into the pupils and this is why we have decided to give out English, Social Studies and Mathematics textbooks covering from primary 1-6 to these schools , ” he said .

He disclosed further that as part of company Corporate Social Responsibility, the company, RENL has given out over 156 community scholarship worth 120,000 per beneficiary to students in it operational areas.

While advising the beneficiary schools to make judicious use of the textbooks as well as ensuring proper maintenance, the RENL Managing Director, informed that the company would be distributing same materials in its Delta, Enugu and Ondo States operational sites.

In appreciation of the gesture , Mrs Aiguobarueghian Ifueko Dele, Education Secretary, Local Government Education Authority, Ovia South West Local Government Council thanked the management of RENL, asserting that the gesture would go along way in improving learning in the schools.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiary schools, Mrs. Udoidoh Nelson , Headmistress, Estate Primary school while appreciation the company for the donation assured of protection of the books.

Meanwhile, a total of 1872 primary school text books comprising of English Language, Mathematics and Social Studies were dontaed to the schools by management of RENL.
