OKPEKPE – The Vice Chancellor of the Ambrose Ali University (AAU) Ekpoma, Edo State, Prof. Ignatius Onimawo on Saturday ran against examination malpractices in tertiary institutions at the 10 kilometers Okpekpe Road Race.

Prof. Onimawo who was one the dignitaries that participated in the event, said AAU would ensure that examination malpractice was stamped out through continuous and vigorous campaign against the menace in the society.

He said his decision to run against the menace was due to the incessant examination malpractices in Nigeria tertiary institutions which had led to the churning out of unemployable graduates in the country.

Prof. Onimawo advised students to study hard to come out in flying colours, rather than thinking of how to indulge in exam malpractice which usually rendered the society unproductive

Professor Onimawo commended the state government and the organizers of  the event he described as laudable, adding that it gives opportunity to athletes all the country to display their talents and earn a living.

Prof. Onimawo, due to his abhorrence for malpractices, introduced Computer Based Examination (CBE) in AAU, through which he has succeeded in eliminating issues of ‘missing results’ and payment for marks,  popularly known as ‘blocking’.

He has equally through ICT eliminated the rancour, violence and complaints that usually trail Students’ Union elections, with the introduction of electronic voting.
