BENIN CITY- Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu has urged Members of the Association of Organizing Secretaries (AOS), led by Mrs. Agharese Efe-Amenze to build synergy and understanding with other sports bodies towards the successful hosting and winning of Edo 2020 National Sports Festival.
Praising the sports secretaries for barring their minds on some salient issues affecting their welfare, he commended their effort at running a smooth Secretariat.
This ease of effort he said, has given direction to the smooth running and documentation of sporting activities in the state.
He also promised to look into their grievances towards actualizing them.
He also informed, “As we move on, there would be larger meetings with coaches and players to streamline importance of what we are doing, in terms of needed results.”
The Deputy Governor thanked God for granting the state hosting rights for the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) and National Sports Festival tagged “Edo 2020 games,” noting that other participating states would have a sip and take away the prevailing peace in the state.
Speaking on the strategic importance of these festivities occurring back to back in the state, he stated, “We want to reset the agenda of the national sports festival; I call it return of the native as this festival is coming back to where it all started at a critical time, with same emanating issues which help to define and unite our country through peace gotten from sports and culture.”
He appreciated the fact that the two events which started from the state are being hosted, hence, he used the opportunity to reassure his guests of governments commitment towards making Edo State number one home of sports in Nigeria.
