BENIN CITY – Members of the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria from the eighteen local government areas of Edo state have once again reaffirmed their unflinching support for the re-election of Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu in 2020.

Speaking at a press briefing held at the union’s Secretariat in Benin City yesterday, the state chairman of RTEAN, Comrade Sunday Erhahon stated that their support is borne out of the deep conviction that the duo of Governor Godwin Obaseki and Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu have brought significant changes to Edo state, especially in the areas of infrastructural development, human capital development, peace and good governance.
The Edo RTEAN boss said the recent political developments in the state had made it imperative for members of the Union to reaffirm their support for the Obaseki/ Shaibu Solidarity Movement.

He emphasized that as a registered trade Union, RTEAN is committed to the ideals of democracy, good governance and the principles of liberty as enshrined in the nation’s Constitution.

“It’s against this backdrop that we condemn the orchestrated attempts to jeopardise the functions of the State House of Assembly and the lingering political maneuvering to deny the Governor and his deputy, a second term in office.

“It’s said that what is good for the goose is also good for the gander. If all those that came before Obaseki had their second term without wrangling, why should Obaseki’s re-election become a subject of debate and political bickering”, the union chairman noted.

Comrade Erhahon said members of the union believe strongly that Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu have done their best to reposition Edo state for the dividends of democracy to flourish in the state.
” There is peace and sanity in the state, workers and pensioners are being paid their monthly salaries and entitlements as at when due, communities are living in peace and property developers have been freed from the obnoxious activities of the so- called CDAs, investors are leveraging on the new economic climate in the state, and more of such good things are happening in Edo state as of today”, he further pointed out.

Comrade Erhahon said that given these positive developments, members of RTEAN in Edo state have come out once again to declare their unflinching support to the Obaseki/ Shaibu Solidarity Movement and their ultimate. re-election come 2020..

The Edo RTEAN boss later led the members in a prayer session and the rendering of solidarity songs.
