BENIN CITY – In a bid to supporting the Edo State government in checking insecurity and criminality in the State, the Edo State Command of the Man Of War Nigeria said they were ready to establish Man O War units in major churches and schools.

This was disclosed to newsmen in Benin by Edo State Commandant, Amb. Odunze Caleb Eberechukwu, while speaking on the state of insecurity in the Southern region of Nigeria. He said the intention is aimed at training people on security management and to raise up personnels that can assist in checking insecurity in places of worship and schools and collection of information to support security agencies.

According to Commander Eberechukwu, “we’ve observed that insecurity has taken over the front page of major newspapers in the country, hence the need to collectively address it.

“We are ready to partner with the State government and the various security agencies in a bid to fighting the ugly menace and restoring law and order in the State”.

The Commandant said as a way of tackling insecurity in the society, the Edo Man O War has increased its membership base, with expansion still going on and therby called for interested members of the public to make use of the opportunity by being enlisted with the State Command as volunteer.

“Our activities include: providing services that will bring about peace, development and healthier Nigeria society; enhancing value re-orientation and sensitization of citizens through promotion of social welfare, culture and economic well-being among others as enshrined in our code of conduct, revised in 2011; promoting productivity and entrepreneurship in all and sundry; encouraging members and other citizens to be law abiding; assisting law enforcement agencies in the maintenance of law and order in the society; rescue and emergency services; etc”.

Amb. Eberechukwu said the requirements for membership is 18 years and above and a minimum of senior school certificate.
