The Executive Chairman, Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) Mr. Igbinidu Inneh, has paid an unscheduled visit to its tax offices across the State to ascertain the level of staff commitment to work, compliance to tax processes as well as get first-hand information on issues that poses as challenges to the revenue administration system.

Mr. Inneh who was represented by the Executive Director(Income Tax), Prince Felix Isuku as the team lead, stated that the visit became very imperative for the Revenue Service owing to the need to broaden the tax base and maximize internally generated revenue collection for the overall benefit of the State.

Prince Isuku, while urging staff to be more committed to their responsibilities in ensuring that the overall IGR target is achieved, was equally elated by the progress made so far in automating the revenue system through the deployment of its home grown technology, ERAS.

He said, “In this new year, all staff should put on their thinking cap at all times, brace up for the task ahead and be totally committed to the EIRS mission, vision as well as achieving the target set before the revenue agency as a team, using the ERAS – automated system that has been deployed which is very intelligent”.

Other members of the visiting team included Mr. Osahon Imaru, Executive Director (Other Revenue), Emmanuel Okodugha, Executive Director (Tax Compliance), Barrister Lilian Giwa-Amu, Director (Tax Policy and Legislation), Sadiat Abu, Director (Large Income Taxpayers), Osariemen Ogedegbe, Director (Small Income Taxpayers) and Francis Okuonghae, Director (Other Revenue).
