ASABA – The Police in Asaba, Delta State say it has nabbed no fewer than 150 suspected criminals in Brothels, Motor Parks, and other hideout within three days across the state.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, ( PPRO) DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya who confirmed the arrest of the suspects in an interview on Tuesday in Asaba, said the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hafiz Inuwa had ordered the raiding of the criminal flashpoints upon assumption of office on January 2, 2020.

Onovwakpoyeya explained that the command arrested 142 male and nine female suspects in various crimes

According to her, the command is battle ready to flush out the criminals anywhere in the State to ensure that the peace in the state is sustained.

She said, “Intelligence led raid of black spot,’ arrested suspected criminals in their hideouts between January 3 and 5; this year in Brothels, motor Parks and hard drugs joints in all divisions across the state.

“So far, 142 male and nine female suspects have been arrested. Investigation is ongoing, and the suspects shall be charged to court accordingly upon completion of our investigations, sounded the PPRO who also hinted that “The command, within the period arrested two persons who claimed to be police officers with two AK47 riffles.

She said they were stopped and searched by the Police operatives, adding: “We are investigating the matter to confirm if they are geniune policemen, so for now, we can’t call them fake officers until we conclude our investigation. We have written to their mobile unit they claimed and still waiting for reply”
She said items recovered from the suspects were two suspected stolen motor bike, 250kg suspected to be Indian helm and three lives cartridge.

She added that the raiding of criminal hideouts across the state would be sustained to ensure that the state remains uninhabitable for criminal elements with criminal tendencies.
