ABUDU – Suspected armed robbers on Monday night broke into offices at Orhionmwon local government council secretariat, Abudu, in Edo state, carting away properties worth millions of Naira.

The suspected robbers, who looted the offices of head of department of Planning, Agriculture, Social works, and NULGE’s did not go to the building housing the office of the council chairman, Hon Silvester Okoro.

“we were on duty on Monday (30th December 2019), but we were shocked to see that the doors that were locked the previous day were opened.

“They break the iron protectors of offices they entered, and destroyed the roof of our union’s office, to gain access”, a council staff told our correspondent

Items said to be stolen include, plasma television sets, air-conditioners, computers, refrigerators, batteries, communication and public address systems.

It was gathered, the robbers took advantage of poor security arrangement at the council secretariat, which is largely surrounded bushes, and with no entrance gate.

Though, nobody has been arrested in connection to the burglary incident, the police had since commence investigation.

“We have not arrested anyone. We are still investigating”, a police officer told The Nigerian Observer at Abudu

The council chairman could not be reached, as message sent to his mobile phone has not been responded to, as at the time of filing this report.
