BIDA – The Palace of Etsu Nupe, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar, Bida town and its environs in Niger State are wearing new look ahead of the arrival of the Monarch of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II.

Recall that the Oba of Benin who is scheduled to depart Benin City for Niger State on a thank you tour today will be meeting with the Emir of Bida, Alhaji Abubakar, Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Bello Sanni as well as the former military president of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) during the visit.

On arriving Bida yesterday morning, Our Correspondent reported that residents of Bida were busy putting final touches to the beautification of the town in preparation to receiving Oba Ewuare II.

At the palace of the Etsu Nupe, painters were seen given face-lift to the buildings inside the palace and walls around the palace.

Also, clearners where not left out as the women were busy cleaning the Palace of the Emir, while some group of chief were seen discussing the arrival of the Benin Monarch.

Speaking with Our Correspondent, a top Nupe Chief whose name could not be ascertained before going to press, said that the people of Nupe Kingom are happy to be receiving the Oba of Benin who he described as distinguished Monarch.

He disclosed that the people of Bida were part of the Benin Kingdom before the British invasion of 1897, adding that the visit of the Oba of Benin was a home coming..

On completion of Niger State visit, Oba Ewuare II will be heading to Kano State where he is expecting to meet with the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje as well as Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
