EWU – The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have intercepted another truck conveying over 80 young men from the northern part of the country on the Benin/Auchi by Ewu Community.

The truck with registration number GWA 202 YR was intercepted at about 7 pm on Thursday around the former Bendel Feed and Flour Mill, Ewu, Esan Central Local Government Area, Edo state.

The truck was reportedly intercepted by NSCDC, with the support of the Ewu Vigilante group, and escorted back to boundary between Edo and Kogi States by men of the Nigerian police Force.

This is happening despite the current order by the president, Muhammadu Buhari banning interstate movement in the country.

It would be recalled that a truck conveying similar number of northerners was intercepted by security agents at Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area.

They were taken to the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH) for Covid-19 testing, and reports indicate that about 18 of samples have tested positive.

Reacting to the incident, the president of Ewu Progressive Foundation, Engr. Fidelis Edokpa wondered how the trucks make it ways through into Edo State without been intercepted, and called on chairmen of border local government areas to be vigilant.
