Ado-Ekiti – In the bid to stem the tide of mysterious deaths among its personnel nationwide, the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) in Ekiti on Thursday joined its counterparts nationwide in seeking divine intervention through inter-religious prayers.

The News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) reports that the prayer session, which held at the commission’s office on new Ado-Iyin road, was attended by staff and management of the commission.

Mr Yemi Arokodare, the Federal Commissioner in Ekiti, while addressing members of staff after the prayers, said the personnel would also embark on a fasting programme.

He said the inter-religious prayer was sequel to a directive from the commission’s headquarters in Abuja declaring Thursday as a day of national prayer following the mysterious deaths of personnel.

“This is the reason we are here gathered today; to table our difficulties over series of mysterious deaths in the commission, especially within the last one month of the lockdown, before God for quick solution and divine intervention.

“We are also using this prayer session to put the commission’s operations and its entire affairs before God in order to restore and bring back its past glories,” he said.

The commissioner listed some of the tragic incidents and mysterious deaths that had plagued the commission nationwide to include the death of the Bayelsa PCC Commissioner, the death of the immediate past Commissioner in Benue as well as the death of another staff in Imo office.

He cited other deaths as well as the surgery conducted on the commissioner in Imo, saying seeking divine intervention was the only viable option before the commission’s management.

“The commission’s top hierarchy was quite alarmed at these incidents and thus resolved to pray and ask for God’s intervention in the affairs of the PCC family nationwide.

“It was thus agreed that all staff and State Commissioners shall hold prayers simultaneously in respective PCC offices nationwide on Thursday, 18th June, 2020 by midday.

“We resolved to ask God to put an end to these calamities,”Arokodare added.

NAN reports that prayers were also offered for an end to the COVID-19 pandemic that had continued to ravage the country.
