BENIN CITY- The Leadership and members of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council Governor, has expressed rude shock following the sudden death of Mrs. Kathrine Itohan Odemwingie, wife of the recently retired Oba of Benin Palace functionary, Pa. Donald Odewingie.
The State NUJ extolled the exemplary virtues of late Mrs. Odemwingie, describing her as a diligent police officer, an adent propergator of the gospel of Jesus Christ, a mother per excellence and a renowned philanthropist who has contributed her quota to the development of the society.
The Chairman, Edo State NUJ, Comrade Roland Osakue, stated this when he led high powered delegation of the Union, including the former state chairman, Deacon Raph Okhiria, currently Secretary the Union, Comrade Titus Akhigbe, on a condolence visit to the late Mrs. Odewingie’s family residence yesterday in Benin City..
Comrade Osakue said the retired police officer was is an icon that every woman, particularly mothers in the state must strive to emulate.
He said, “Thank God for the life of our mother Late Mrs. Kathrine Odemwingie; she lived a fulfilled life as he accomplished all he set out to achieve in his lifetime.
“She has contributed her quota to the development of the state. we will miss her. She was a woman with the fear of God who took life easy and was never proud in all her dealings. Her death has created a large vacuum that will be difficult to fill.”
The Comrade Osakue while further sympathising with Pa. Odemwingie, noted that the deceased and her husband have raised an amiable community of children who are well-behaved.
“The life of late. Mrs. Odemwingie is indelible and can never be erased in the sand of time and Edo people will come to realize the great woman in our mother”.
Responding of behalf of the family, the deceased’s eldest son Mr. Anold Osamuyimen Odemwingie thanked Comrade Roland Osakue and his entourage for the visit.
The visit was rounded up with prayers said by Deacon Ralph Okhiria, just as Pa. Odemwingie who was visible in pains later lamented the death of his wife, saying “my world has collapsed and the death of my wife has caused me infinity pains”.
Recall that Mrs. Kathrine Itohan Odemwingie died in ghastly motor accident on Sunday morning while driving to attend church services.
