…hails governor’s landmark achievements, leadership style

BENIN CITY – The Elawure of Usen, His Royal Highness (HRH), Oluogbe II, on Thursday, assured Governor Godwin Obaseki of the unflinching support of the people of Usen in the September 19, 2020 governorship election, citing the governor’s sterling performance across all sectors of the state.

The traditional ruler gave the assurance when Obaseki, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led other members of the Edo PDP Campaign Council, on a courtesy visit to his palace in Usen, Ovia South West Local Government Area, to seek his royal blessings and support ahead of the gubernatorial poll.

According to the monarch, “We are not just going to receive you like that; we want to let you know that we are for you, both day and night. Even when I am sleeping, call me, I will attend to you.

“We will do our best, both in prayers and otherwise, to support you, because there is a lot of hope in your speech. I am really moved by your speech. We thank you for the interest you have in Edo.”

The Elawure of Usen continued: “I know what you have done in terms of infrastructural development in the entire state. It’s not now that we are going to narrate everything, but to me, you are a good governor.

“I know you don’t talk too much. You are the kind of leader that I like, you don’t talk much but we see and feel your performance.

“May the Lord be with you; the God that you serve will never let you down. Usen is there for you.”

The traditional ruler further commended the governor for upgrading the college of education in Ekiadolor to a federal institution and the college of agriculture in Iguoriakhi to a modern agricultural institution.

On his part, Obaseki said: “I listened very attentively to your speech; you started your request with education. As you know, education is our priority as a government. We are working very hard to reposition education in our state.

“You talked about security; I was quite impressed to see members of your vigilante group. We are going to give them the necessary support. As a government, we take security very seriously.”
