BENIN CITY- The Benin Traditional Council (BTC), has denied the issuance of this year’s Ugie Festival Programme which went viral recently, maintaining that the purported Ugie Programme never emanated from BTC but from mischievous elements with the intent to deceived unsuspected members of the public.

In a press statement signed by Secretary of the BTC, Frank Irabor, and made available to journalists in Benin City, yesterday, BTC said that this year’s programme of Omo N’Oba N’Edo Ugie Programme ceremony has not been released.

The statement informed that 2020 Ugie programmes would be issued, at the appropriate time as the one currently in circulation is fake, hence such should be disregarded by the public.

The statement read in part: “The Benin Traditional Council wishes to request the general public to disregard a purported Ugie Festival Programme currently in the social media.
