Benin – The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says it has completed the listing of households in 50 enumeration areas of Edo, ahead of the 2021 Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS 6) in the state, NBS coordinator in the state, Mr Frank Obaide, said.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Monday, in Benin., that the listing of the households for the survey was carried out by NBS in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, UNICEF and other stakeholders.

Obaide explained that the survey was meant to ascertain the mortality rate of children within the 0 to 11 months age bracket and the fertility rate of men and women within the 15 -49 reproductive age bracket in the country.

He described the exercise as essential for an up-to-date frame of households for MICS 6, adding that it would help to develop needed standard infrastructure for efficient sampling and estimate procedures.

“The objectives of the house listing is to provide summary statistics necessary for the calculation of weight and to identify and listing of structure housing units and householders”, Obaide said.

He said the whole exercise was conducted within 12 days in the state.
