NSF: Sports minister urges adherence to COVID-19 protocols

Abuja – Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare has called for strict adherence to the COVID-19 protocols throughout the ongoing 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) in Edo.

The minister gave the charge on Tuesday in Benin after inspecting the UNIBEN Camp/ Hostels for athletes from the 36 states.

The minister’s Special Adviser (Media), John Joshua-Akanji in a statement quoted Dare as expressing satisfaction with the level of medical preparation in place at the festival.

Dare said out of 6, 500 COVID-19 tests conducted for the athletes, only five athletes had so far been isolated.

The minister called on all stakeholders to support the successful hosting of the sports festival in spite of the COVID-19 challenge.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 20th National Sports Festival, which started on April 2 with the arrival of athletes in Edo, will end on April 14.
