EKPOMA – Edo State Government has pledged to pay the emoluments, including Cheque off dues of the striking workers of the Ambrose Alli University, (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, as soon as they return back to work.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Benson Osadolor made the disclosure when he paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Onogie of Ekpoma, HRH Anthony Ehizogie Abumere ll, Eguare-Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area.

“The state government has made a pledge that the outstanding emoluments of workers over the months, including their Cheque of Dues would be paid as soon as they return back to work”, he disclosed.

He declared that the vision of the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki was to reposition the university, and address the issues militating against the progress of the state owned institution.

He added that his administration and the Edo State were committed to the peace of the university, so that all the players and stakeholders would have a wonderful opportunity to contribute their very best to the growth of the university, as well as growth and development of the university town of Ekpoma.

He solicited the support of the monarch and his community, promising the traditional ruler that he would not disappoint him.

In his response, the Onogie of Ekpoma, HRH Anthony Abumere ll, congratulated the acting vice chancellor on his appointment, and pledged his support for his administration and the university

He expressed gladness that the issues concerning the salaries of workers were being addressed, just as he appreciated the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for his intervention to reposition the university.

“I have no issue with with the decision of governor, since the decision is to move the university forward. Though the university in Ekpoma, it is a state owned university”, the monarch said.

The Ekpoma monarch admonished the new acting vice chancellor to be objective in handling any issues brought before him, advising him to always investigate before taking decision in order not to be misled.
