BENIN CITY – The Enogie of Eyaen commmunity and Chief Executive Officer of Rialto Hotel, Benin City, His Royal Highness, Dr Osazuwa Aiwerioghene Iduriase has dissociated himself and the hotel from a purported coronation ceremony of Sultan Idriss Adano as the Sultan of Shuwa Arabof Edo State.
The ceremony which has been trending in the social media for days now, was allegedly scheduled for August 21 and 22, 2021 at the Rialto Hotel.
In a statement, the Enogie said that the publication linking Rialto Hotel to the coronation ceremony was not only malicious, but also done in bad faith.
He said that those behind the said coronation ceremony actually approached him on the use of the hotel for a party which was later found to be coronation ceremony of the alleged Sultan.
However, he said the people have not made any financial commitment to Rialto Hotel for the ceremony, but went ahead to publicise it in the media, development, he added was a calculated attempt to bring his name and that of Rialto Hotel to Public redicle and disrepute.
As a traditional ruler and custodian of culture in Benin Kingdom, he said he was very much aware of the implications of such ceremony in the Kingdom and as such would never be part of it, directly or indirectly.
Enogie Iduriase further said that there can never be two Kings in Benin Kingdom in whatever guise as the Kingdom recognises only one Sultan in Nigeria, which is that of Sokoto.
He therefore warmed those planning to use Rialto Hotel for such ceremony to have a rethink.
